One Orthodox Church for Every Country- East Timor to Ethiopia

These are all churches that currently hold Orthodox services. If I can't find evidence of a church that holds regular services (house churches count), then the country does not have an Orthodox Church listed. I have included Oriental Orthodox Churches. If you know of a country with an Orthodox Church that I have missed or overlooked, please let me know.

East Timor
I cannot find an Orthodox Church in East Timor, however there is a new one being built in West Timor, and the Indonesian Orthodox Church has missions in East Timor, so it looks promising.

Ecuador
It is very difficult to find any Orthodox Churches in Ecuador and it is made more confusing by the presence in Quito of a non-canonical group using the name Orthodox. I have found efforts by the Russian Church to build in Ecuador as well as two churches under the Ecumenical Patriarch: http://orthodox-world.org/world_index.php?country=Ecuador
Please Pray for the Orthodox Church in Ecuador!

Egypt
St Takla Haymanout Coptic Orthodox Church, Alexandria

El Salvador
It looks like there are currently no Orthodox Churches in El Salvador, though there are people who have expressed a wish to join the Orthodox Church.
Please pray for the Christians in El Salvador!

Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea is primarily Roman Catholic. I cannot find evidence of any Orthodox Churches there. Please Pray for an Orthodox Church in Equatorial Guinea!

Eritrea
St Mary's Orthodox Church, Asmara

Estonia
Church of Puhtitsa, Puhtitsa

Ethiopia
Our Lady Mary of Zion
(Supposedly has the Ark of the Covenant...)

  1. Alethia,
I have been desperately looking to find a legitimate Eastern Orthodox congregation in Ecuador, without any luck. Could you please identify the church pictured in Quito, and give any contact info you may have for it?

On another note, by chance are you involved with the Annapolis Campus Ministry at St. John's College? I've been supporting them for several years.

    1. Transfiguration of the Savior Orthodox Church, Quito, Pichinchas, Ecuador, is a Greek Orthodox Church under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. It is located in Colegio Tenico Humanistico Quito near the intersection of Av Pedro Vicente Maldonado and Alpahuasi. May God bless you.

  2. I am very sorry. I wrote this quite a while ago and can't find where the picture must have been found, but I recognized an non-canonical bishop in the picture after more research and I've subsequently removed it. I've found only one reference to any Orthodox Churches in Ecuador that are canonically Orthodox, which you can find by following the link. It's hard to know how reliable this stuff is without travelling, but it has the address on a google map so it looks promising.

On the other note, yes. I am a senior at St. John's College and the OCF President/Archon.
